Euro2008 GroupD Betting Guide

Well its clear that the Bookmakers think that the defending champions Greece cannot repeat their feat of 2004 and have them down as 25/1 outsiders to do so. This is surely worthy of an each way bet! They are a generous 4/1 to win the group too, with only Spain to beat, has to be worth a wager too!. The 11/10 odds offered against them to even qualify from their Group is not generous but might be odds to take as insurance.

The 33/1 offered for Russia to win the Tournament are fair odds but unless Hiddink can pull off a major shock then these odds should be left alone. We advise to make individual match bets with this side, as we feel the Group might well be a close affair. The odds of them winning the Group are 5/1 and to qualify they are 11/8.

As 6/1 second favourites, the bookmakers believe Spain have a real chance in this Tournament. They are clearly capable of winning and maybe those odds are generous. Less generous are there are Group odds and these should be avoided. We also advise that the top goal scorer odds should be looked at. Fernando Torres is a very definate possibility here and at 12/1 he represents good value.

Sweden are 25/1 outsiders for Euro 2008, these are odds that make sense because no-one really expects them to make the latter stages let alone win the final. There odds of 9/2 to win the group are not bad, if you have faith in them. Our advice would be to back Sweden in individual matches after the first set of matches are complete.
